So last month we took a trip to Las Vegas to attend part of the annual WPPI convention. As you probably know, there are lots of distractions and fun things to do in Vegas. And yes, we did take in some fun shows and ate some incredible food. We also made our way outside of the town to pursue some personal photography projects.
And Wow. Just wow. Our new favorite place is Valley of Fire State Park. We found it to be a stunning and incredible playground for creating a variety of different images. Rocks, sand, slot canyons, natural sculptures and more. Nature has a way of creating masterful art pieces right in front of our eyes. It may be a grand landscape or a micro landscape. You just have to look and keep your eyes open. I have a tendency to enjoy looking at nature in an abstract way and was not disappointed by the canvasses in front of us.
It was fun processing the photos different ways to pull out the variety of colors and textures we explored. The colors that predominated were oranges, rusts, purples, magentas and tans. The light we experienced contributed to how well we saw one color or another. Once home and putting the images through Lightroom and Photoshop we had fun deciding which set of colors to emphasize more.
Let us know what you think. Do you like the color or black and white?
