Meeting unique and talented Alaskans is one of the perks of photography that we get to do all the time. It’s a plus if they aren’t afraid of the weather. In mid-October we photographed high school senior Rachelle Jenkins, who is homeschooled but also attends South Anchorage High School. We were all set to photograph her in September, but had to reschedule due to torrential downpours that day. Despite a bit of rain, the October shoot was a success. Some stunning images came out of it, shot at John’s Park in South Anchorage and at a friend’s home. Rachelle’s mom came with us and was a great help. She was very vigilant about keeping the umbrella over Rachelle’s head while we set the shots up.
Overall, the shoot was a wonderful time and Rachelle and her mother braved the weather as true Alaskans. Rachelle is musically gifted and plays piano and sings in the choir. She recently got her driver’s license and enjoys classic movies.
Check out images from the shoot below. Rachelle surely proved that the subject is what makes the picture – who cares about a bit of rain?
