We looked at all the dancer sessions we’ve done on location over the past ten years. These are all of what we consider the best locations within a reasonable distance of the Ted Stevens Airport.
I included photos of each location that we took of dancers at these spots to give you an idea of what might be possible there.
Some of these locations will look mostly the same on October 19th as they do today. At some of them it likely the leaves will have turned and fallen.
After you look through these and found some that interest you we can chat about them in more detail.

Bird Point
This spot is on the Turnagain Arm near Girdwood. Tide level can affect the number of available places to shoot at this location.

Beluga Point
On the Turnagain Arm a few miles south of Anchorage. This is another place where the tide level impacts the number of spots available to shoot

Kincaid Park – North Point Beach
This park is immediately adjacent to the south side of the airport. This is the first of the three disdinct areas to shoot. To get to this beach location is a 15-20 minute walk on an mostly paved trail. Like all places on the Turnagain Arm the tide affects the number of places available to shoot.

Kincaid Park – Little Campbell Lake
This location is located right next parking. The forested area surround the lake. There is very little beach here. There is also a short pier but we’ve never photographed a dancer there.

Kincaid Park – Jodhpur Motocross Track
This area is also refered to as the Sand Dunes. Access to this area is on a different road than North Point Beach or Little Campbell Lake. Parking here is also very close to the shooting locations.

Glenn Alps Trailhead
Glen Alps is located on the east side of Anchorage in the mountains. In mid October there is a good chance the low growing vegation will be displaying fall colors.

Carr-Gottstein Park
This is a very small park with only a couple of nice angles for shooting.

Peters Creek Park
This park is located just north of Anchorage in Chugiak. It is a birch forest and by mid-October the leaves are typically all down.

Mouth of Peters Creek Park
I am not making this one up. For some reason they couldn’t come up with a better name. This park is about a mile or so from Peters Creek Park. It takes about five minutes to walk to the locations from the parking area. The wooded area here is also mostly birch. By mid-October it is very likely the trees will have lost all their leaves. The grass should be brown by that point.

Point Woronzof
This location is right next to the airport. It is has to be low (or at least a lower) tide to shoot here. At high tide all of the beach is under water. It takes about four or five minutes to walk from the parking area to the beach.

While you are in Anchorage for Nuvo you’ll be able to scout out all our ‘urban’ area. Everything urban looking is within three blocks of the Egan Center.
