Summer green was running a little late this year, but that didn’t stop us! After a short walk around her family’s property, we found a beautiful field full of summer green. The tall grass and soft light created the perfect setting for her Senior photos.

Choosing a Grassy Field for Senior Photos
A grassy field can create a beautiful setting for senior photos. The simple, natural background keeps the focus on the subject. However, not every field will give you the same look. A little planning makes a big difference.
First, look for a field with tall, healthy grass. Grass that is summer green or autumn brown grass adds color and texture to the photos. Additionally, taller grass can create a soft, dreamy, timeless look. Wild grasses add movement and variety to the images.
Next, consider the location. If it is private land, we’ll need to get the owner’s permission to shoot there.
Larger fields give us more options for finding lots of interesting angles. It is always better to have few or no distractions like buildings or power lines around the field. However, we can shoot around them if needed.
It is important for us to select the best time of day to shoot in the field. Evening light gives a warm, golden glow. Furthermore, the lower sun creates longer shadows and beautiful highlights in the grass. A lower sun angle also makes it possible for us to create beautiful backlight photos. Cloudy days can work well too because clouds create soft, even light.
Finally, consider accessibility. Make sure you can safely reach the field and move around comfortably. Watch for uneven ground, mud, insects, and wet grass.
Most importantly, choose a field that fits your personality. A wild meadow can feel adventurous, while a neatly maintained field creates a cleaner, classic style. With the right location, simple surroundings can create memorable senior photos.
