Senior Photos in the Wind: Making it Work
Using the Wind to Create Incredible Senior Pictures
Windy Day Senior Photos
Windy conditions are always an interesting challenge.
Wind has a habit of either being totally against us or working for us perfectly. This was one of those nights that it was behaving exactly how we wanted it to! Let it be known that the wind can’t keep us down! (Well, so long as it’s not a hurricane that is.)

Using the wind to create incredible senior pictures
Breezy conditions always create an interesting challenge during a photo session. However, wind does not always work against us. Sometimes, it becomes the perfect part of the scene.
Wind can move hair, clothing, and tall grass in beautiful ways. It can add energy and movement to an image. Instead of fighting the breeze, we can often use it to our advantage.
That happened during this session. The wind showed up, but it behaved exactly how we wanted. It added just enough movement without making the session difficult. As a result, we captured natural images with plenty of personality.
Of course, Alaska weather can change quickly. Therefore, we always keep an eye on the conditions. A little breeze can create magic, but stronger winds can make a session much harder. After all, there comes a point when the wind stops helping and starts taking over!
Still, a little wind will not keep us down. In fact, it might give us some of our favorite photographs. So, when the breeze picks up, we embrace it, adjust our approach, and keep shooting.
Unless, of course, we are dealing with a hurricane. Then we will happily reschedule!
